These are situated in Ashby de la Zouch, Coalville, Earl Shilton, Hinckley, Loughborough, Market Harborough, Measham and Narborough. Cooperation on economic development is promoted and supported via the Local Enterprise Partnership. In September 2010 the local authorities, business community, universities and other partners agreed to form the Leicester & Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP). The LLEP was then approved by HM Government in October 2010.

The County Council owns and manages a 2,930 hectare County Farms estate located throughout the county. The estate comprises let farmland, together with woodlands and areas of significant ecological interest, which enables the County Council to offer opportunities to rent farm properties, safeguard the biodiversity of the county and contribute to matters of rural interest both on a local and national level. |

Leicestershire County Council are continuing their commitment to provide 21st century education facilities throughout the county with the building of new schools and extensions to others as part of the Melton reorganisation. This has provided additional facilities at Belvoir High School and at Long field School, Melton. A complete new school has been provided, in two phases at John Ferneley in Melton. A Post 16 facility has also been provided on the site of the old Sarson High School, Melton. Together with this work the new Forest Way special school has been built in Coalville. All schemes attempt to maximise the advantages of natural light and stack and cross ventilation is controlled by a Building Management System, which is over-ride able by the occupants. The buildings which has been designed to meet the BB93 acoustic requirements and incorporates a sprinkler system, low emission double glazing, bio mass boiler, occupancy sensing for lighting control as well as zoning for heating & lighting to allow out of hours community use. Thermal and Daylight modelling was carried out in the early design stages to optimise the location, orientation and height of the structure and associated car park and play areas. A thorough research, consultation process involved a wide range of stakeholders to arrive at the brief. Option appraisals and feasibility carried out by a large team of Specialist Consultants refined the proposals which were measured using Design Quality Indicators and method techniques, whole life costing and value management methods.

The council is also undertaking new work to extend primaries in the whole Leicestershire area. This work has commenced as of July 2011 and all schemes are due for completion by March 2012.
Corporate Asset Management Plan (CAMP)
The County Council has a responsibility for land, buildings and other assets within the county. In order to deploy and utilise these assets most effectively, the County Council produces a Corporate Asset Management Plan (CAMP). The CAMP sets the strategic direction for the use, management and development of Leicestershire County Council’s corporate property resources over the next financial year.

The principal role for the asset base is the same as for all other corporate resources: to support and enable the delivery of the Council’s corporate and service objectives and, additionally, to provide the facilities that will be required to meet with future service delivery needs.The CAMP is reviewed and updated annually. County Council Asbestos and Legionella Policies:

Leicestershire County Council’s policy on asbestos management complies with the Control of Asbestos Regulations (2006) and reflects guidance from the Health and Safety Executive. The condition of asbestos is actively managed to ensure that it remains in good condition. Survey updates, in line with HSG264 and annual inspections are carried out. Asbestos is only removed by licensed asbestos removal contractors if its condition is deteriorating or is likely to be disturbed during refurbishment or demolition works. Local Authorities are generally required to maximise the value of their assets, but recent government policy also stresses the importance of preserving open space for community use. The assessment and disposal procedure is designed to allow Councillors to make an informed choice on whether to maximise income, preserve community assets or reach some compromise between those two standpoints. See the Land Disposal Procedure, agreed on 28th July 2009 by Cabinet, for more information.
