Have you ever felt conned or ripped off by a business or tradesperson? Getting refunds for faulty items or trying to find out where your undelivered goods have gone can be frustrating.
This is where Trading standards can help. On these pages you will find information and advice about your consumer rights including how to make complaints, find approved traders and stop unwanted calls and mail.

Consumer advice in Leicestershire is provided by Consumer Direct, a telephone and online service offering information and advice on consumer issues.
Consumer Direct offers you the first general advice and if you still require further advice or information then you will be referred to a the Duty Officer on the Advice team within Leicestershire Trading Standards.
We also provide a list of useful leaflets that can offer information and guidance to help with your claim or enquiry.

Leicestershire Trading Standards also produce a newsletter that contains up-to-date news for consumers. Each issue contains information about product safety recalls.
Our aim is to promote a fair and safe trading environment for the people of Leicestershire. Whether you are a consumer or a business you are equally important to us.

If you would like to do some independent testing of your own, then the Scientific Services department can help. Leicestershire and Staffordshire Scientific Services carries out scientific analysis to protect the public and prevent problems. They serve public organisations, large and small businesses and members of the public.
