Community Grants

Welcome to Leicestershire County Council's Community Grant scheme.
The County Council provides a wide range of support for local communities and individuals, who are working to improve the quality of life in Leicestershire:

Shire Grants Available:

  • Arts Development Grants are for the promotion of arts activities in Leicestershire e.g. theatre, music, dance, art, film etc.

  • Community Environmental Improvement Grants are for public developments that will benefit the environment in and around Leicestershire.

  • Historical Buildings Grants are for assistance and specialist technical advice for essential repairs or the restoration of original architectural features to certain historic buildings and structures.

  • Small Grants are for Under 5's and Carers groups. These grants are targeted at voluntary organisations that work with vulnerable people/groups, including Under 5's, older people who are frail and Carers. Uses have included the purchase of 'Storysacks' made up of good quality young child's picture books and for Carers, used to enable support groups to meet and to occasionally have trips out.'

  • Village Hall Grants are for works to extend, refurbish or carry out major improvements and repairs to existing village halls or to create new halls e.g. church halls that act as community centres may also be eligible for a grant.

  • Voluntary Youth Grants were last year given to approximately 100 youth groups, including guides, scouts, clubs for young people and voluntary village youth clubs. E.g. the Northeaster Narrowboat Project, which offers youth groups the opportunity to participate in day trips and residentials providing a challenging experience of team work and responsibility, together with an educational experience.

Information contained in the SHIRE Environmental Grants Application Form may be subject to release to others in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Certain exemptions from release do exist including where the information provided is protected by the Data Protection Act 1998.

Rural Community Council - Funding Information Pack

The Funding Guide produced by the Rural Community Council (Leicestershire & Rutland). includes hints and tips on applying for funding and details of over 150 funders that may enable you to carry out your projects.

Leicestershire Funding Toolkit

The County Council has supported Leicestershire Together to develop the Leicestershire Funding Toolkit. This is a free one-stop website for voluntary and community sector funding information and advice.  The site includes a searchable database of over 4000 funding streams.
