Community Archaeology ...A chance to find out about your local area through real archaeology.
Leicestershire Museums Archaeological Fieldwork Group has local
fieldwork groups around Leicestershire and Rutland which undertake their own fieldwork projects with
help from museum staff.
Leicestershire and Rutland Archaeological Network seeks to involve parish councils
around the two counties. Parish archaeological wardens are appointed by the parishes to monitor local
archaeology with information, training and support from museum staff.
The Young Archaeologists Club is for 9-16 year olds interested
in the past. The Leicestershire branch meets monthly at museums and sites around Leicester and Leicestershire.
Please contact the Keeper of Archaeology for more details.

Produce teaching material to help schools use the finds
Leicestershire Museums Archaeological Fieldwork Group agreed at the AGM to support
the appeal and donate £1,000 and asked members to donate additional funds. The project as a whole will
cost over £500,000. Most will (we hope) come from the Lottery and other national funding bodies but
your support could be crucial.
