What is Ancestry Library Edition?

Leicestershire Library Services has subscribed to a popular genealogical website called Ancestry Library Edition.
Ancestry Library Edition is a research tool offering the most comprehensive genealogical information available online, with more than 4 billion names in over 4,000 collections.

What can Ancestry Library Edition offer you as a user?

How can I access Ancestry Library Edition?

Ancestry Library Edition is available within the library free of charge. To use this service:
  • You need to be a member of Leicestershire Library Services
  • You need a library card and a PIN to book the computer. You can book a computer either by visiting your local library or online.
  • Logon to: www.leics.gov.uk/reference to access Ancestry Library Edition
If you are not a library member then visit your local library and ask a member of the library staff about joining the library.

Is it available from home?

No this service is not available from home. You can only use Ancestry Library Edition free of charge in your library.

Is there a charge for using Ancestry Library Edition?

No there is no charge for using Ancestry Library Edition from public computers in libraries. However there is charge for prints outs that you may wish to make.
