SATs results findingsPutting money into books is twice as cost effective in raising KS2 test scores as a similar amount spent on ICT (Curriculum Journal, Vol. 17, No. 1, March 2006)
Library Services for Education have undertaken their own research using DfES figures for 2005/6 to compare primary school users of LSE loan services with non-users of loan services, showing an increase in SATs scores amongst users of the service:
At KS1Reading level 3+ 3.3% higher for users of LSE
Writing 3+ 2.7% higher
Maths 3+ 3.0% higher.
At KS2English level 4+3.3% higher
Maths level 4+ 1% higher, level 5+ by 0.3%.
Science level 4+ 1.4% higher, and the same for level 5+
