Forthcoming Inset, meetings and events 2008 - 2009
The literate classroomWhat does a literate school look like? What is the most effective method of teaching creative writing? What kind of environment encourages young people to see themselves as readers and writers? And what role does the school library play? These are some of the issues that will be explored during the course of this stimulating day by award-winning author and educational consultant, Alan Gibbons. Wednesday 29th April 2009 (9.30 – 3.30) Key Stages 1-3 Meeting for staff with responsibility for managing the library in primary schoolsThis is a yearly meeting for teachers and other staff with responsibility for managing the library in primary schools. Acting as both a user group for LSE and a support group for teachers, it provides an opportunity to discuss issues of common concern and interest regarding school library provision. Tuesday 16th June 2009 (4.00 – 5.30) Key Stages 1/2 Primary New Books GroupLibrarians from LSE present a selection of the best newly published fiction and poetry. These informal sessions enable teachers and library staff in primary schools to maintain their knowledge of current children’s literature and support wider reading priorities.
