Special ServicesWe try to provide everyone with a library service, but it may be that you have special needs which make it difficult for you to use the library.
Books on WheelsIf you are housebound please refer to the Books on Wheels page, which will tell you about the home delivery service, mobile LINK service, and access for disabled people.
Library AccessSome libraries have a car park, wheelchair access, automatic doors, lifts and a toilet for disabled people. See [Library facilities and locations - PDF] for more details.
Guide dogs are allowed in the library.
Using the LibraryLibrary staff are always on hand to help you; whether it's reaching for books on a high shelf, carrying your chosen books to the counter, or reading the information on the back of the books.
Staff are also happy to recommend authors and titles if you have trouble finding or choosing a library book you will enjoy. Libraries offer a wide range of services and materials for people who have special needs.
Large Print & Talking BooksWe have a wide selection of books in large print for people who find ordinary print too small.
We stock a collection of Talking books - on CD and audio tape - often read by famous actors and celebrities and in many languages.
If you are registered blind you can receive the RNIB talking book service. Call 0845 762 6843 for more information.
There is also a selection of subtitled videos/DVDs available.
