Talking Books

Brighten up those boring jobs and tedious car journeys by listening to your favourite authors on tape or CD!  From comedy to the classics, we have a selection of talking books to suit all tastes.  Give your eyes a rest and let your ears take the strain!
Visit our Listen to This page for samples of some of our audiobook titles and links to dramas, readings and author interviews on the web.

Borrowing

You can have a maximum of six talking books on loan at any one time, for up to three weeks.  For each talking book borrowed there is a small hire charge.
If you wish to keep the talking books out for longer, then an additional three weekly hire charge will be payable when you return them.  Titles not available at your local library can be reserved at your local library for a small charge.
Concessions are available and if you are Registered Blind or have a disability you can borrow and reserve talking books absolutely free.  The library service pays a subscription to Vista to enable the RNIB Talking Books service to be provided directly to blind and visually impaired people, making the service free of charge to users.  Telephone the RNIB Talking Books service for more information - 0116 249 0909.
