The most comprehensive guide to museums in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Visiting museums in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland couldn’t be easier. Using the information in the guide you can plan short trips to individual museums or whole days out to take in a group of neighbouring museums.

Most museums offer free entry, are suitable for people with disabilities and have other useful facilities. The symbols against each entry give more information and opening times are included.

There’s also a map inside, which may help if you’re planning a trip and want to visit a number of museums. Don’t forget to use the symbol which will help you plan the length of visit as there’s a wide range of museum sizes and visits can last from less than an hour to a full day out.

Whatever your interest, there’s something for everyone including local history, transport, family history, science and industry to windmills and fashion. More detailed information can be found directly on the web site listed or by contacting the museum directly.

Many museums now offer facilities for adult learning and educational packages for schools in line with the national curriculum. Contact the museum directly for more information.
