Loans, Donations & Bequests to the Records Office

The vast majority of our holdings come from organisations and individuals around the area.

Some have given their documents to us, but far more have retained ownership and simply lent us their records so that they can be looked after ( and repaired if  damaged) and used by local historians and other visitors to the Record Office. You will still retain legal ownership of any documents loaned to us.

Documents held in the Record Office are kept in strongrooms in carefully controlled atmospheric conditions to preserve them for the future.
