Moving Objects is an award winning scheme that brings small touring museum displays into venues in Leicestershire free-of-charge.

Moving Objects covers a range of topics from waste and recycling to creative writing, mental health, myths and legends and beauty to name just a few. Take a look at the ‘displays available’ section of the website to find out exactly what we have on offer.

If you are within Leicestershire it is free to borrow a display.

Community groups and organisations within Leicestershire can borrow displays. If you are unsure whether you qualify, then contact us and we will do our best to help you.

Moving Objects displays can be used in all sorts of ways. They have been used to support formal and informal learning, to inspire art and creative writing projects, as focal features at events and as a way into contemporary issues. Look at the ‘Using Moving Objects displays’ part of this website for more details.

Moving Objects bookings are taken on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and you can book the displays for as long as you like, subject to availability, whether for a day-long event or for a three month project.

All our cases have been specially designed to tour community venues and are robust and secure. If you have any concerns about security, then please contact us and we will try to help.

All the displays and accompanying materials are fully insured by the museum service. There is no cost to borrowers for this.

We deliver and collect all Moving Objects displays. You cannot collect or return them yourself.

This varies from display to display with some displays having more materials than others. Have a look at the display you are interested in in the ‘displays available’ part of this website, where all support materials are listed.

Get in touch with us! If we do not have a Moving Objects display for a particular topic, we may be able to lend you objects and works of art from our Resource Box and Artworks loan collections.
