Restricted Service

We regret that, due to unavoidable maintenance work, one of our strong-rooms will be inaccessible from 3 September to 13 September 2010. This period may be extended.

Some archive and library collections will not be available during this period. However, most parish records, wills, newspapers, Leicester borough records, Poor Law records, Quarter Sessions records, tithe and enclosure maps, and much else will continue to be accessible.

Cameras in the Searchroom

As from 12 October 2009 visitors are now able to bring their own cameras into the Searchroom. There is a fee : £5 for a day permit or £20 for a weekly permit. Terms and conditions apply. For further details please email : recordoffice@leics.gov.uk

The Record Office does not provide birth, marriage or death certificates. To obtain these you will need to contact:
