ArtsmarkArtsmark is a national award scheme managed by Arts Council England that recognises schools with a high level of provision in the arts. The award scheme is open to all schools in England - primary, secondary, special schools and pupil referral units, both maintained and independent.
Artsmark is both an audit and assessment tool to monitor the breadth, depth and balance of the curriculum ‘diet’ offered to children and young people. In applying for Artsmark many head teachers and Arts Coordinators have used this as an opportunity to raise awareness across the school and wider community about the level of participation, achievement and fun, enjoyed both inside and outside the curriculum. Many head teachers have remarked on the value of the process in gaining an overview of the arts curriculum and in reporting to the school and wider community the skill level and enrichment available to both pupils and staff in the arts.
All presentations are general and across the board and relate to secondary, primary and infant schools. If you have already attended a presentation in 2007 you need to wait for the Artsmark surgeries which I will be running in May, June and July.
If you would like to learn more about Artsmark by attending a presentation please book onto one of the sessions by contacting Rachael Phelps 01162700850 rphelps@leics.gov.uk
Artsmark surgeries for practical input and advice will follow in May, June, July.
