Aberglaslyn Hall Outdoor Education Centre

Accommodation

Aberglaslyn Hall has comfortable accommodation with shower facilities for up to 48 people in 6 student dormitories and 3 staff rooms for up to 6 accompanying staff.

Catering

Generous catering facilities are provided for visitors undertaking the varied outdoor activities. Breakfast, packed lunch, afternoon tea and evening meals are provided and hot drinks are available at all times.

Educational Activities

Field Study courses (PDF, 740kb) allied to National Curriculum subjects (e.g. Geography, Ecology) are available. It is possible to use the Centre for field study work, drama, music, history, photography and art. All activities at Aberglaslyn Hall are suitable for Key Stage Two (KS2) to Key Stage Four (KS4) / Adults (PDF, 760kb).

Health & Safety

Leicestershire County Council declares that its Safety Policy, as an employer, is to promote, establish and consolidate such measures as are reasonably practicable to foster the safety, health and welfare at work of all persons both employees and visitors.

Team building courses are offered by the staff at Aberglaslyn Hall for both student and adult groups. Mountain biking and ski-ing are also available.

Transport

The Leicestershire Outdoor and Residential Learning Service maintains a fleet of minibuses. All vehicles are fitted with forward facing seats, equipped with seat belts. All drivers supplied by the Service have passed a minibus competence test. The safety of children and young people is as important to Leicestershire County Council as it is to parents, school staff, and governors.

Weekend Offers
Aberglaslyn Hall is suitable as a base from which to visit many places of interest in the area such as the Castles of North Wales (Harlech, Caernarfon, Conwy and Criccieth), Ffestiniog Railway, the Centre for Alternative Technology at Machynlleth or to explore the Slate Heritage of North Wales.
There are a number of beaches along the rugged coastline within easy distance of the centre. The area is ideal to pursue a variety of activities such as mountain biking, rock climbing and canoeing, or else to enjoy hiking and walking in a very beautiful part of the country.
