  • Late applications, unless there is good reason for the application to be late, will not be dealt with until after places have been allocated to those who met the deadline.
  • For admissions to Primary schools, applications must be made to the Local Authority that maintains the school. For admissions to Secondary schools, applications must be made through the Local Authority in which the applicant resides.  Contact details for neighbouring Local Authorities can be found below
  • Please read the Parents Guide to Education in Leicestershire before making your application for a school place. This booklet is also available from your local school.
  • You can use the School Search facility facility to find out about individual schools entry requirements as some schools have their own admissions policy. The search facility can also be used to find out more details about schools before making your application. If you want to search for schools throughout the country, try using EduBase. The Ofsted website may be useful if you want to read the Ofsted inspection report for a particular school.
  • For more information, you can read Leicestershire policies for Admissions. Available documents include the Consultation on School Admission Arrangements, the Leicestershire LA Admissions Policy applying to most Leicestershire schools, and Class Size Legislation from the School Admissions Code of Practice.
  • The DSCF Website contains more information about School Admissions and Appeals.  You can download two publications: The School Admissions Code and the Schools Admissions Appeal Code from this website.
