The Specialist Teaching Service is part of the Leicestershire Education Authority.
Each year, Service staff provide support for over 1500 children with special educational needs, their families, early years settings and / or schools.
Support includes:
  • Assessment of needs
  • Advice on the educational management of individual children
  • Help in preparing individual education plans and, in some cases, direct teaching
  • Provision of educational advice as part of the statutory assessment process
  • Support to Annual Review of Statements of Special Educational Needs
  • School and Early Years support
  • In-Service training for staff
  • Provision of materials and resources
  • ICT Assessment Service
