Learning Support Team

Step Up

Step Up is a joint Education and Social Services initiative to raise the educational achievement of looked after children in Key Stage 2 in Leicestershire primary schools. Based within the Learning Support Team of the Specialist Teaching Service Step Up aims to provide support through:
  • Direct teaching when required to help children catch up.
  • Learning support assistants attached to the scheme to assist children in school.
  • Help with homework
  • Advice, support and training for foster carers to better meet the educational needs of the children they care for.
  • Ensuring that children within the group have access to appropriate and up to date books, games, writing materials and ICT equipment.
