Buildings Risk Management GroupMeeting 25th June 2004SummaryThe meeting began with a demonstration of the new portable digital cctv system that had been purchased by the Group for hiring out to establishments where they were currently experiencing local difficulties. It can use up to 4 cameras and can be set for 7 day recording. It can work connected to one 13 amp socket and at the most requires two 13 amp sockets. It has audio and e-mail facilities.
Leics Risk went out to all schools on 22 June and further copies were available for other establishments if required. The main topic was IT equipment in schools.
Reports were heard on Risk Management Projects. Kevin Shaw demonstrated ‘Crime Shield’ window protection which was being considered at one site. Bin security was discussed as it was felt some audit would be necessary in the near future to make sure the existing facilities for chaining the bins were in use.
The Risk Management Report on work carried out by Rae Leah showed that digital projectors were still the main security issue. Warnings had been issued to schools about the need for security mountings in ceilings as thefts had taken place where the poor quality of the ceiling mountings was an issue. The police representative confirmed that there were still a couple of gangs specialising in digital projector thefts in the area. A vulnerable time for schools was after main school finishes as community use starts to take over and access is not as controlled as it should be. More sophisticated zoning of alarms would help with this.
