ABOUT THE TEAM AND ITS SERVICES
The function of the ICT team is to support schools in:
- raising standards through the use of ICT;
- the delivery and management of ICT in the National Curriculum and the enhancement of the teaching and learning of all subject areas through the use of ICT;
- the delivery of the government priorities funded under standards fund ICT in Schools and DfES funded initiatives and pilots.
- the team provides advice and support for schools for the following:
Funded:
- development planning and the strategic development and management of ICT in schools
- intervention where schools have specifically identified needs
- identified curriculum initiatives
- guidance and support in the acquisition and use of new curriculum hardware, software and connectivity purchased through standards funds, including Broadband development.
- advice on the rollout of East Midlands Broadband Consortium (EMBC) connectivity advice and training on the development and use of content on the EMBC Community Gateway.
In addition, the team supports schools via:
- a wide range of regular curriculum courses held centrally for all phases. Many courses identified according to priorities such as those emerging from the analysis of Ofsted reports and from school requests.
- publications relating to best practice in ICT in schools.
- secondary newsletters
- seconded teachers for CPD in ICT
- advice via email and telephone
- conducting pilot projects to produce case studies of good practice and the use of emerging technologies.
