School Self Evaluation Toolkit - April 2005
Section 2: Advice on Arriving at Grades and Writing the Supporting Commentaries.
This section supports you as you attempt to draw up your SEF. It works through each of the sections of PART A of the form (SELF-EVALUATION) offering advice on the actions needing to be taken prior to writing up commentaries and arriving at final grades.
Exemplar Summary Charts: The following charts are examples of the type of information and judgements a school may make. In reaching a final judgement grade you will need to constantly refer to the Ofsted judgement charts in section 3 to see where your school best fits. Three of the charts also have associated SEF commentaries in the section below.
To help you determine just how good you believe you are in each aspect of the SEF you will need to be constantly referring to the Ofsted Evaluation Schedule in Section 3.
Sample Commentaries: To be read in conjunction with associated exemplar summary charts in the section above.
Section 3:
Recording Judgement Grades and an Introduction to SIP Commentaries.
This section is where judgements you have made in your SEF are recorded in anticipation of a dialogue about them with the SIP.
Ofsted - Evaluation Schedule (PDF file, 150kb) - For reference when you are determining your grade. .
NB: This is only the latest Ofsted draft and it may well be changed again before September 2005.
