The Ministry of Defence are running a scheme whereby key workers can rent some of their empty properties on a short to medium term basis. Rents are based on the quality and decorative state of the houses, the short period of the leases they can offer and the location of properties relative to amenities. The nearest locations where properties are available are Woodhouse Eaves (2 bed properties) and potentially South Wigston – contact is Richard Sewter 01572 812241 Ext 7100.

We’ve been made aware that our article in Newsletter No 5 re caretakers’ properties was misleading and we would like to clarify.

The power to re-let empty house rests with the Resources Department and not with individual schools. However, there are some properties, particularly in school grounds, where disposal of the property is difficult. These could well be suitable for short term letting to incoming members of staff.
