The 'Portrait Bench' as voted for by the Leicestershire public is constructed by the Leicestershire Highways team and officially opened by Cabinet Member Lesley Pendleton and children from Tangent House Day Nursery. The bench features an Aurochs (extinct wild ox) and two Bronze Age people, the remains of whom were found in Watermead Country Park.

Children from Church Hill and Eastfiedl Primary Schools cycle into Leicester along the Connect2 route for the Phoenix Bike Ride.

The GB Women's Volleyball team cycle over the bridge at Birstall Lock on their fundraising bike ride from Sheffield to London.
