Cycle TrailsFoxton Locks Trail![]() This route gently winds its way through rural South Leicestershire along a section of the Grand Union Canal towpath that was built in 1809 as part of the original Grand Junction Canal.
It starts in the lovely old town of Market Harborough and passes through some of Leicestershire's most attractive countryside Highlights along the way are the picturesque, and fascinating Foxton Locks and Inclined Plane.
Vital Statistics:Confident cyclist may wish to cycle back via the country lanes, thus making the route circular (total distance: 9 miles/13km). The route is relatively flat, but can be busy at times.

Space which has been an important possession of local people has been taken from them over the years, and made the preserve of people in cars who happen to be passing through. Children no longer play on the street or travel unaccompanied to school (Royal Commission of Environmental Pollution 1994)
The Harborough Arm canal towpath is part of the National Cycle Network.
