ENABLE Conference 2008![]() The fourth ENABLE annual event was held this year on Thursday 3rd July at the National NSPCC Training Centre, Beaumont Leys, Leicester.
The theme was Climate Friendly Communities with a keynote speech from Professor Roy Alexander from the University of Chester who spoke about his involvement with the Ashton Hayes Going Carbon Neutral campaign. Ashton Hayes is a village in Cheshire which aims to be the first carbon neutral community in the UK and has already carried out energy surveys for homes in the village and the pub serves locally produced food and beer! Roy also showed a copy of a film which was produced as part of funding from DEFRA the village received to help raise awareness about climate change. The film ‘Our Footprint, Our Journey’ can be viewed on You Tube and is available to buy on DVD.
There were also two workshop sessions with four workshops to choose from. Presentation slides from most of the workshops can be viewed below.
