Big Switch Off Week - 11.10.2010 - 17.10.2010
Look out for the Big Switch Off 2009 Film Competition winners being shown as trailers for all films at the Live@the Museum at Rutland County Museum, Oakham. Rutland County Council are also holding displays in all their libraries (Oakham, Uppingham, Ketton and Ryhall) as well as in the foyer of the main Council offices at Catmose House during Big Switch Off week. Ashby town centre - 09.10.2010
Ashby 20:20 will be running a Big Switch Off stall outside Boots in Ashby from 10am-3pm on Saturday 9th October. Have a go on the blenda venda and find out how hard you need to pedal to make your own smoothie. Find out more about the Big Switch Off and get lots of tips and advice on how to save energy at home. The group will also be running a short survey to find out what local people think the biggest green issues are for the town. For further information see Ashby 2020.
Dunton Bassett Goes Green -9.10.2010
Between 10am until 12:30pm at Dunton Basset Village Hall the short film 'Ashton Hayes goes Carbon Neutral’ will be aired showing the story of a Cheshire village whose residents are working together to save money and reduce their carbon footprint. Other activities on the day will include an ideas wall, identifying sites for tree planting, assistance on completing home energy checks, information on ideas for projects, and a consultation on low-carbon ideas for the village. Transition Rutland - 9.10.2010

Sam goes 13.1 extra miles - 10.10.2010
Sam Howlett hopes to turn heads and encourage people to make an extra effort to turn off electrical gadgets that aren’t being used when he runs the Leicester half marathon. Sam, who works for the Rural Community Council, will be donning a Big Switch Off T-shirt when he takes to the streets to run the half marathon on October 10th. Diseworth Switches Off - 12.10.2010
Diseworth’s ‘Big Switch Off Event’ is taking place at the Diseworth Heritage Centre, Lady Gate, Diseworth, Derbyshire, DE74 2QF on Tuesday 12th October 2010, between 10 am and 6pm. This is an informal event, open to the general public on a drop in basis. It will be a fun and interactive event for all and will include energy and water saving tips, children’s competitions, home insulation and renewable energy ideas, free refreshments and there will also be a cycle smoothie maker!

Earl Shilton Farmers’ Market - 16.10.2010
The Big Switch Off stall is coming to the Earl Shilton Farmers' Market featuring a bike-powered smoothie maker, find out how hard you need to pedal to make your own smoothie. There will also be a survey and giveaways as well as information about volunteering to help organise the ’Plastic Bag Free’ day in December. For further information see Rural Community Council.
