It focuses on lightly-trafficked residential streets and putting well-designed streets at the heart of sustainable communities. Amongst other things, it updates the link between planning policy and street design; includes revised design guidance; and places strong emphasis on a coordinated design approach.

Published by Leicestershire County Council. Note: Unless otherwise stated, all highway works shall be in accordance with the Specification for Highway Works Volume 1 of the Highway's Agency Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works, current at the time of completion of the s38, s278 or similar Agreement. Some of the clauses and appendices included in the Leicestershire County Council Specification contain additions and amendments to the Highway's Agency Specification. Where such clauses and appendices depart from the latter, these departures shall apply.
