Scheme objectives

The County Council identified Sileby Road as a road which justified funding to introduce appropriate measures to reduce the impact of traffic on the local community.  The scheme focuses on reducing vehicle speeds which will create a safer environment for all road users, but particularly for local residents.

Scheme details

The scheme includes:
  • A series of speed cushions aimed at reducing the speed of traffic
  • A vehicle activated sign aimed at reducing drivers speeds on the approach to Barrow

Public Consultation

Consultations took place in September 2007. All comments were collated and considered by County Council Members and they decided that the scheme should proceed.

Construction

Construction was completed in May 2008.  Monitoring of the scheme is currently being undertaken.
