Traffic Calming and Toucan Crossing

Background

As a consequence of the housing development currently under construction off Lathkill Street, funds are now available from the developer to reduce the likely impact of the development. The proposals form part of the conditions attached to permission to develop the site.

The Proposals

A series of speed tables on Bath Street and Lathkill Street
A toucan crossing on Northampton Road
New bus stops and improvements to existing bus stops
A cycleway linking Green Lane to Dallinson Close

Scheme Objectives

Reduce vehicle speed
Provide safer crossing points for pedestrians
Encourage use of public transport and cycling
Safer roads for all road users

Public Exhibition

A public exhibition was held at the Methodist Church Hall, Northampton Road on Wednesday 5th December2007
County Council Officers were in attendance to discuss scheme details and answer any queries.
