Leicestershire Local Transport Plan

In March 2006 we published our second Local Transport Plan covering the period 2006 - 2011.  This sets out our transport strategy for Leicestershire, which is based on a thorough review of transport needs, and details a five-year implementation programme.  This superseded the first LTP, which ran from 2001 - 2006 Local Transport Plan 2006 - 2011 (LTP2)

Successful delivery of LTP2 will only be acheived if we monitor and manage our ongoing performance throughout the plan period.  We have a number of different mechanisms in place to do this.

In December 2008 we reported progress on delivery of LTP2 to Government Office and the Department for Transport (DfT).  This focused on both performance to date and future challenges that we are likely to face during the remainder of the LTP2 period.  A full copy of the report is availiable here.  We have also produced a summary summary_document to outline the key messages from the report

In August 2008 we provided an update on the implementation of local transport measures to improve air quality in LTP2.  This was presented to Government Office and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and detailed the work that we have been doing with our distrct council partners to improve air quality in the county. 2008 LTP2 Air Quality Progress Report

The Leicester and Leicestershire annual Local Transport Day is now in its eleventh year and plays a vital role in moving the local transport agenda forward by providing an opportunity for transport professionals and stakeholders to come together to discuss key issues.  This years event, held on 1st July, attracted almost 100 delegates representing over 40 organisations from across Leicestershire.  The day played a vital role in identifying a number of key issues to raise and further investigate as part of our first LTP2 Progress Report. In July 2001 we produced the first Local Transport Plan which set our five year (2001 - 2006) transport strategy for Leicestershire. You can download this document via this link LTP1 (2001-2006)
