Back to school help with homework

Children and young people are being encouraged to take advantage of Leicestershire County Council’s libraries when they are doing their homework.
All of County Council’s libraries have facilities and resources to help children and young people with their homework.
Libraries offer a safe and friendly environment with space to work, books to take home or use in the library and staff to help young people find the information they need.  All libraries have computers that can be used free of change to access the internet or produce homework assignments and five free printouts are available.
The County Council’s website has homework help pages guiding young people to websites on a range of homework topics including access to the Library Services' Online Reference Library.  This gives library members free access to encyclopaedias, dictionaries, over 300 reference books and newspaper articles not freely available on the internet.
David Sprason, Leicestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Libraries and Museums, said: “Leicestershire libraries offer a great service to children and young people and this is backed up by the fact that 98% of children gave their Leicestershire library a positive satisfaction rating in the last Children’s Public Library User Survey.  The message to all children and young people in Leicestershire is that library staff won’t do homework for them but they’ll certainly help them do the best they can.”
