Cash payments

Cash Payments (also called Direct Payments)

What is it?

Cash Payments, also called Direct Payments, are available to people who are eligible for a Personal Budget.
Cash Payments give people the most flexibility and choice in how they are supported, because the money is paid directly to them.  You can read more about the different ways to manage personal budget money here.
The important thing to remember with a Cash Payment is that the money is paid to you (or to someone you choose to help you) and that you are responsible for the relationship and contract with your support providers.
See the frequently asked questions about cash payments page for more detailed information.
We have prepared a number of factsheets for people who are interested in using Cash Payments:
Using Cash Payments to Recruit and Employ Staff - A Guide for People on Personal Budgets
For factsheets about recruiting and employing staff see our page about employing a personal assistant.
