Shared Lives Service

What is Shared Lives?
This means going to stay with another family. This could be either for the day, for an overnight short break or maybe living with a family on a long term basis.

What is a Shared Lives Carer?
It is the person whose home you will stay in. They can include you in their family activities.
You decide what things you want to share with them. Things like:
  • What you do during the day
  • What you like doing in the evenings and at weekends
  • What things you need help with

help and support
A Shared Lives Carer can help you with lots of things, including:
  • taking your medication
  • washing your hair or having a bath/shower
  • managing your money
  • cooking
  • going out and about, to do the things that you enjoy
some money
How much will it cost?
The cost of an Shared Lives Service will depend on how long you stay and also on what you can afford to pay.

How can I get Shared Lives?
You can Contact Us (or ask your Social Worker or parents to)
Once we know what you would like, we will look for the carer best suited to you. You could meet them with your social worker, to see what you think, if you want to. Sometimes you may need to meet a few carers before we find the right one for you.
