Bridges ISA Programme

Supporting Better Futures for Children, Young People and Families in Leicestershire, Leicester, & Rutland
Bridges is for children, young people and families who need extra help at the right time. Bridges aims to make getting advice and support easier and, in the long term, improve services, by helping to ensure all agencies (including schools, health, youth work and social care services), work together.
In order to do this Bridges has:
  • set up ways of safely sharing information, and using common assessments
  • created a directory of services
Bridges will:
  • Strengthen the way services are provided for children and young people that need help
  • Make it easier to get help, and check whether the help is properly provided
  • Help to identify where more services might be needed
  • Make it easier to share information - so avoiding the need to repeatedly give the same information.
The Bridges service directory holds over 1000 local, national and web-based services for children and young people. Visit http://www.bridgesdirectory.org.uk. The service directory can be searched by keyword/category. There is also an A-Z listing.
Bridges has received positive feedback about it’s service directory from children, parents, carers and professionals.
Parents and young people can ask for the service they want directly by emailing staff at Bridges on bridgesdirectory@leics.gov.uk.
Internet access is available at libraries throughout Leicestershire where staff can help. For flyers, posters or more information, please contact the Bridges Team on 0116 305 8727
The recently published Five Year Strategy for the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) clearly signals the importance of Bridges and this area of work. There is a clear statement about the changing role of the DfES which Headteachers and Principals may find helpful to refer to. Full copy of the DfES Five Year Strategy for Children and Learners.
If you do have any worries about a child or young person, contact your local Police or local Social Care office.
