Social CareSocial care is about helping people in difficulty to live their lives. There are a wide range of jobs to choose from and that means you should be able to find a job with flexible working patterns that you can match to your own circumstances. You could work full-time, part-time or flexible hours around family or other commitments. Either way you’ll be doing a job that offers close contact with people and constant variety. You’ll be provided with training in the skills you need to do the job well and there are many opportunities for further development and career progression.
Social WorkSocial Work puts you in a responsible position which requires training and professionalism. An interest in people is important but you also need to be quick-thinking, thorough, persuasive and committed to making a difference. Social Workers work with people who need some support. As an advisor, advocate, counsellor or as a listener Social Workers try to help people live more successfully within their local communities.
As of 2003/2004, the professional qualification for Social Workers is the BA (Hons) Social Work degree. This is offered by most universities as 3 year course.
