Supporting PeopleWhat is Supporting People? The Supporting People programme offers vulnerable people the opportunity to improve their quality of life by providing a stable environment which enables greater independence. Local authorities and their partners, plan, commission and provide, quality housing related support services, which help vulnerable people to live independently in the community.
Supporting People is a government programme, introduced in April 2003 to plan, fund, and monitor housing-related support services. Leicestershire County Council administers the programme in Leicestershire through a partnership involving local housing authorities, social care services, health, probation, registered social landlords and the voluntary and private sectors. Working with service users is also a key element of the Supporting People programme.
