Vision Statement

Leicestershire County Council Social Care Services offer lots of different services. Some services are provided by Social Care staff, others by different organisations that we pay for. We aim to make all our services the best and make sure that they are right for the person using them, no matter what their needs are.
Valuing People says that services for people with learning disabilities should work in a Person Centred way to:
  • Promote people's rights
  • Support their independence
  • Respect choice
  • Support their inclusion in their own community.
We will work with people with learning disabilities, their families, local communities and other agencies to do this by:
a book displaying easy word and pictures Getting better at communicating and listening to all people with learning disabilities.
an information pack Giving clear and easy to understand information to people about what we can and can't do.
two people reading a book together Helping people with learning disabilities have as much choice and control as possible over their lives.
working on a computer Working with others to look at the problems people with learning disabilities have when using ordinary services, like health, housing, leisure and work.
a tick Making sure that the services we offer are the best they can be. If services need to be better we will work to make them better.
two people planning ideas Providing services that listen to what people say, are open to new ideas and there when people need them.
talking to carer Listening to what carers say and finding out what each of them needs. If they are happy and feel confident it will help them in their role.
We believe that staff are the best way of making sure that services are great. We will help other organisations that provide services for us and build an organisation that:
a person with different tasks to do Helps staff work in a person centred way with individuals.
equal opportunities policy Treats everybody as equals, with respect and kindness and values people that are different.
a group of people discussing ideas Listens and communicates with others in the organisation and values peoples ideas.
a training pack Supports staff to do their job and makes sure they have the chance to build their skills and knowledge.
a light bulb representing an idea Encourages new ideas and welcomes challenge.
some money Gets value for money, works efficiently and challenges any rules that aren't needed.
an envelope showing feedback Is happy for good feedback but listens to complaints and tries to make things better.
a clipboard Knows how important it is to check the quality of services and is always trying to improve services.
