Leicestershire Learning Disabilities Partnership Board

valuing people symbol
In March 2001 the Government wrote report called Valuing People. It said that they wanted to make sure that people with learning disabilities were helped to get better lives. This includes things like their own homes, better health, more things to do in the day and help to get a job.
an agreement between people
The Government said that to help us make Valuing People happen we should set up groups called Partnership Boards.
A Partnership Board is a group of people that meet together to make sure that the ideas in Valuing People are being used to make life better for people with learning disabilities.
Leicestershire Learning Disability Partnership Board
The Leicestershire Learning Disability Partnership Board was set up in October 2001.
The Board has around 30 members who come to meetings each month. The members include people with learning disabilities and their families, social care services, health, education, employment, housing, voluntary and independent sector care providers. The Board has produced lots of plans which say how services should change for people with learning disabilities in Leicestershire and it makes sure these are put into place.
