General Information |
Carers of People with Mental Ill HealthIf you have any concerns about mental health matters - yours, or a friend’s or relative’s, you should first contact your GP. For more serious problems your GP may refer you to Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust.
If you are already a carer and looking after someone with serious mental ill health, you are entitled to an Assessment and a care plan. We review the care plan every year.
Carer Support ServicesFor carers of people with mental ill health, there are two specific services: a Carers Advocacy Worker (based at LAMP) and the Carers Education and Training Project (CETP).
Help and Advice for CarersWe can provide details of Carers Support Groups and Development Workers.
We can provide contact addresses and phone numbers for Counselling Services, arranging an Advocate, local self help groups, support groups or drop-in centres for you or the person you care for.
We have a number of Publications for carers, detailing our services, short breaks schemes and financial schemes. We can also give advice on how and where to claim any Carer's Benefits (.pdf) available.
We can give you information about equipment and Adaptations to the home
