Charter for Mental HealthThe Mental Health Charter is published on the LAMPdirect website.
The Charter for Mental Health is a clear set of statements for people receiving our services (and their carers) about what they can expect. Implementation of the Charter by local providers and commissioners will ensure better services that more effectively support people's recovery from mental distress.
The Charter (launched March 2008) is a multi-agency agreement and has been signed by representatives from:
The Charter has been translated into the following languages:
Urdu, Polish, Somali, Bengali, Gujarati, Chinese, Hindi, Punjabi
For our staff the charter provides one set of consistent values, making clear what is expected of them and what they can expect from their organisations.
Documents have also prepared outlining the implications for organisations that provide Mental Health services, and the commissioners who pay for them. These documents can be found on the LAMP website:
Implications of the Charter for staff working in mental health services, organisations that provide services and the commissioners who pay for them.
Further work is being undertaken on guidance for organisations on how to implement the Charter, and an audit tool to monitor how well organisations are doing.
