General Information |
Physical and Sensory DisabilitiesAnyone may become disabled, suddenly through accident, or gradually through illness, and some people are disabled from birth.
If you have a physical disability, sensory impairment or long-term illness, Social Care Services and other organisations may be able to provide support and advice to you to help you to lead a life, which is as full and as independent as possible. We can also help those who care for disabled people.
What Help is Available?Social Care Services has a variety of services available both to people with physical or sensory disabilities and to their carers. Some services are provided directly by Social Care Services, other services are provided by external organisations on our behalf. Below are some of the services and help we can provide:
How do I get Help and Information? The first point of contact when you need assistance is your local Social Care Office.
Eligibility Criteria and ChargesSocial Care Services have an eligibility criteria to identify who qualifies for services. This is because we have to target services at people who need them most.
