Residential Care Homes

Cost and Applying

How Much will it Cost?

We would usually carry out an assessment to determine if people are eligible for a Care Home, and to receive financial support in paying the Care Home fees. We will usually ask you to pay for or contribute towards the cost of residential care. This is the case whether you stay in one of our own homes or if we arrange for an independent provider monitored by the Commission for Social Care Inspection to provide it.
The amount you pay depends on how much you can afford and is worked out when we make a financial assessment. It will also depend on whether your stay in the home is temporary or permanent.
See Charges for Social Care for more details.

How Can I Apply?

To apply for residential care you have to receive a community care assessment which assesses your needs. The money available limits the services that we can offer, and we cannot meet everyone’s needs all the time. Some people will have more important needs than others and the assessment process helps us find out whose needs are greatest.
You can also contact the Care Home directly to find out if they have any vacancies, see Choosing a Care Home for help selecting a Care Home.

Funding your own Residential Care

Some people choose to make their own arrangements and self fund a permanent residential or nursing care placement.
