Development of Day Services for Disabled People in CharnwoodIn February 2006 a model for developing day services for people with a physical disability was considered by Cabinet. This is in line with the health and social care white paper “Our Health, Our Care, Our Say - a new direction for community services.” This model proposed moving away from predominantly building-based services towards a more flexible, individualised service involving a wider range of community based options.
Proposals and Consultation regarding developments in Charnwood AreaRecent consultation has taken place between July and October on proposals to reshape day services in the Charwood area including some transfer of resources to provide more Direct Payments whilst also retaining a day centre for existing service users who do not wish to access alternative, community based options. This would result in the service provided at Charnwood Day Centre reduc ing to three days per week. You can read the details of the proposals in the full Cabinet Report
Thank you for all responses to this consultation. The proposal and responses will be considered by Cabinet in December 2008.
