Leicestershire County Council - Community Safety Strategy

COMMUNITY SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT

Recognising that crime and the fear of crime or anti-social behaviour seriously affects the quality of life, the County Council declares that its policy is to promote community safety within its organisation and within the County generally.
This will be achieved through:-
  • Joint working within the organisation and with other agencies at all levels. Wherever possible this should involve local people and be responsive to the needs of particular communities or vulnerable groups
  • Encouraging both practical crime prevention measures and long term strategies for tackling the causes of crime
  • Ensuring that community safety is a high priority for all departments
  • Providing information, training and opportunities to share and develop good practice
Community Safety work is co-ordinated by the Community Safety Officers in the Youth Justice and Safer Communities section of the Chief Executives Department, who can be contacted on either (0116) 265 6056 or (0116) 265 7594.
