County Council

Role:
  • sets the Budget and the Capital Programme
  • decides policies, objectives and priorities
  • approves any changes in the above
  • approves any changes to the Constitution
  • appoints the Cabinet, Scrutiny Commission and all main bodies
  • receives reports from the Cabinet and Scrutiny bodies
  • questions from individual members of the County Council can be asked of the Cabinet and Chairmen of Boards and Committees
  • deals with Notices of Motion - where members can raise issues for debate
