STANDARDS COMMITTEE

Promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct by Elected Members and co-opted Members and advising as necessary on matters relating to the conduct of employees are key roles for the Standards Committee.  The Committee is made up of five County Councillors and two Independent Members and is chaired by one of the Independent Members.  The Committee’s terms of reference can be found in the County Council’s Constitution and its role includes dealing with the majority of cases of misconduct by Members.  The Committee is supported in its work by the County Solicitor in her capacity as Monitoring Officer and the Head of Democratic Services.
