Roads & Highways - Weight Limits / Restrictions

Service Description

Weight limits are used to prevent lorries with a gross plated weight of more than 7.5 tonnes from using roads that are unsuitable. The County Council has now completed the countywide strategy which has seen the introduction of weight restrictions across most of the County. This has been accompanied by positive signing to help drivers of heavy vehicles comply with the restrictions and keep such traffic off unsuitable roads. These weight restrictions are being enforced by the Police, who are using modern camera technology to help track down and pursue offenders.
