Each year, the Lord-Lieutenant celebrates the achievements of young people in Leicester and Leicestershire.

The Lord-Lieutenant’s award for young people focuses on five themes.

All of our category winners embody the qualities set out in our criteria and their achievements richly deserve recognition.

2017 award winners

Lord-Lieutenants Young Person of the Year 2017

The Lord-Lieutenants Young Person of the Year 2017 was awarded Ciera Taylor.

Young Braveheart of the Year

Awarded to: Ciera Taylor, aged 16, who attends Countesthorpe Leysland Community College

Young Volunteer of the Year

Awarded to: Oliver Stretton, aged 15, from Kirby Muxloe, who volunteers with the Volunteer Police Cadet Programme.

Young Most Improved Sports Person of the Year

Awarded to: Maisie Wilkinson, aged 14, from Moira, who is a junior member of Ivanhoe Archers.

Young Artist of the Year

Awarded to: Alexander Love, aged 16, from Leicester, who attends the Wigston Academy & the National Youth Dance Company.

Young Investigator of the Year

Awarded to: Dibjeet Kaur, aged 15, from Leicester, who attends Sir Jonathan North College.
