Help with caring for someone with dementia

Getting help with your caring responsibilities can make life easier for you and the person you’re caring for.

Services in Leicestershire and Rutland

You can get one-to-one help from the Alzheimer's Society with:

  • emotional wellbeing
  • memory support services
  • skills for coping with changes in behaviour
  • befriending advice 
  • respite care
  • information on support groups and cafes

The Alzheimer's Society provide a range of information and support services on all aspects of dementia.

Search for private carers, care agencies, personal assistants and other help at home.  If you want to buy any of the services or products please contact the provider directly.

You can ask for a carers assessment

A Carers budget is available.  You'll need to complete a carer’s assessment for this.


You may be able to get benefits for yourself or the person you’re caring for.

You could also get Carer’s Credit – a National Insurance credit that helps with gaps in your National Insurance record. Your State Pension is based on your National Insurance Record.
