Hazardous waste - includes car, dry cell, portable
May be part of your kerbside recycling collection – check with your district council
Reduce what you use:
- Rechargeable batteries reduce waste and save money in the long term
- If possible use mains electricity
Can be recycled:
- At your local recycling and household waste site
- At local recycling banks or bring banks – use the recycling locator on Recyclenow to find your nearest
- At some supermarkets
Do not put in your general waste bin as they can cause fires. Batteries contain toxic and corrosive materials so should be recycled.
Business waste advice:
If you produce or distribute batteries you must be a member of the Battery Compliance Scheme.
